Ellie Swain

Hi, I’m Ellie. I began my career working for a digital marketing and SEO start-up in London in 2013. My role involved plenty of copywriting and content strategy work for clients in the travel, e-commerce, and food and drink industries, including travel comparison website Dealchecker and classified ads company Gumtree.

Much to my youthful excitement, many of my articles were soon featured online on the likes of Business Insider, The Huffington Post, and The Daily Mail Online. My ‘Food Bucket List’ piece for Dealchecker even graced the glossy pages of Grazia Magazine.

My next role was again in marketing, this time for four-star hotel The Petersham in London’s leafy Richmond. This job also heavily involved content marketing and copywriting, and I grew very fond of writing about the grand Victorian building. While at The Petersham, I also freelanced for several companies, slowly increasing my client base.

The start of freelance life

In 2018, I left my job at The Petersham to travel around southeast Asia and Australia. When I began to run out of money, I threw myself into freelancing so I continue travelling. That’s when I realised working full-time as a freelance writer and marketer could be a real possibility, and I haven’t looked back since.

Since then, my client base has grown and grown, with clients including the likes of Forbes, The Guardian, The Evening Standard, Euronews, and The Daily Beast.

Starting Charted Copy

After a few years of freelancing, I decided it was time to make that next step and open an agency to streamline my services and deliver incredible copywriting solutions that skyrocket my client’s sales.

My amazing clients range from big-brand travel companies to start-ups in the growing EdTech industry based all around the world, from Sweden to the States. Whatever your copy needs and wherever you’re based, I’d love to hear from you.

I live and breathe travel, working remotely as I travel the world. When I’m not tip-tapping at my laptop, I love adventuring to far-flung destinations, sampling mouth-watering cuisine (ceviche is one of my favourites) and listening to live music in moody venues.
